Frequently asked questions

What we are asked most often

The answers cover what MAP sets up and what each programme allows. Anything that depends on your own framework is flagged as such.

How it works

What does MAP do, in one sentence?
MAP provides an earmarkable digital euro. You choose who, when, how much, where and what for. Your beneficiaries pay from a real account. Every payment is recorded on a tamper-proof blockchain.
Is this the digital euro?
No. MAP’s offer is a private offer, distinct from the Eurosystem’s digital euro project. It is neither issued, nor guaranteed, nor approved by a central bank. The detailed comparison is set out in the dedicated article.
Is electronic money a deposit?
No. It bears no interest and is not covered by a deposit guarantee scheme. The funds received in exchange for issuance are protected by a separate mechanism.
What is the blockchain for in the programme?
Every payment in the programme is recorded there. Nobody can change that record afterwards, neither MAP nor the funder. The proof covers the payment: amount, supplier, date, rule applied. It does not say what was in the basket, nor whether the goods were delivered. No personal data is published on the chain.

Funders

Which rules can we define?
Who, when, how much, where and what for. The designated beneficiaries, the amounts, the period, the ceilings, the suppliers or their categories. Online payments, cash withdrawals, activation of the account and the card. For example: €600.00 per household, at food suppliers in the chosen area, for three months. What each rule controls, and what it does not prove, is set out in the rules matrix.
Can we control what is purchased, item by item?
Filtering by supplier category frames where the money is spent, not the contents of the basket. Finer control requires an integration and suitable data. We look together at whether it is feasible, programme by programme.
How do we track consumption of the envelope?
Tracking distinguishes three amounts: what is authorised, what is already paid, and what is still available. The format, the frequency and the recipients are settled with your teams, from the first conversation.
Is there a public price list?
No. The terms depend on what your programme covers. They are given to you after the first conversation.

Beneficiaries

How can I find out why an operation was refused?
A refusal always names the rule that was not met. The account holder is given that reason, as the programme provides. If the difficulty persists, support and the complaints channel are the right routes.
Can my balance disappear at the end of the programme?
The end of a period of use and the right to redeem electronic money are two distinct questions. Balances are handled as provided for in the programme contract. No automatic forfeiture is presumed.
Is my data visible to the funder?
Each role has defined access rights. What the funder sees accounts for the use of the funds, without unnecessarily exposing the identity of individuals.
Who do I contact if there is a problem?
Support directs you according to the nature of the question: programme, access, operation or incident. A complaint follows a different route from commercial contact.

Integration

Is there a public API?
No. Technical documentation is handed to you from the first conversation, for what your programme covers. This site publishes no sample request, key or service address.
How long does an integration take?
It depends on what is covered, the systems concerned and your organisation’s internal approvals. No standard lead time is announced on this site.
Can we test before committing?
Yes. A test environment, on fictitious data, is part of the preparation. Its arrangements are defined with your technical teams.
Do you offer a card, an IBAN, European coverage?
Yes. The beneficiary has a real account with its own IBAN, and incoming and outgoing transfers. They have a universal payment card, not a prepaid card on a closed network. It works in shops, online and anywhere in the world. A QR code and an app come with it. Which of these your programme opens is settled from the first conversation.

Trust

Which entity do we contract with?
With Mon Ami Poto SAS, an electronic money institution authorised by the ACPR. The company has been on the Paris trade register since 7 February 2020 and its registered office is at 30-32 boulevard de Sébastopol, 75004 Paris. MAP is its institutional brand. The Regulatory framework page sets out the services covered and how the roles are split.
Where can we verify the institution’s status?
In the public registers of the supervisory authority. The electronic money institution authorisation carries the number 17698. The Regulatory framework page repeats that reference.
Do you hold security certifications?
No certification is claimed in the absence of a verifiable attestation. Each attestation is published with what it covers, its issuer and its validity date.
How do we obtain your supplier-assessment file?
The catalogue of documents says how to access each one: public, on request or restricted. A request is made through the institutional contact channel.
